Psychological stress is considered one of the most common psychological phenomena in the modern era, as individuals experience it as a result of various daily life pressures, whether academic, social, or professional. Stress is defined as the body’s and mind’s natural response to stressful situations; however, its persistence for long periods may lead to negative effects on overall health.
The causes of psychological stress are numerous, most notably academic pressures, family problems, economic difficulties, and poor time management. Environmental factors and an unhealthy lifestyle also play an important role in increasing stress levels among individuals.
From a health perspective, stress directly affects the body, as it may cause high blood pressure, sleep disorders, chronic headaches, and a weakened immune system. Psychologically, it can lead to anxiety, depression, reduced concentration, and decreased cognitive performance.
The danger of stress lies in its cumulative nature, as continuous exposure without proper management or treatment may lead to serious health complications. Therefore, it is recommended to adopt effective methods to reduce stress, such as exercising, organizing time, getting enough sleep, and practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation and deep breathing.
In conclusion, psychological stress is an important health issue that requires public awareness and effective preventive strategies to maintain both mental and physical balance.
