The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, signed a Letter of Intent with the prestigious University of Reading in the United Kingdom to strengthen international relations and expand cooperation with leading global academic institutions. The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Cultural Attaché to the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, as well as a high-level British academic and administrative delegation.
The British side included Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Head of the Global Academy at the University of Reading; Professor Keiichi Nakata, Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School; Mr. Alex Button, Director of Global Engagement; and Ms. Erem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment. The memorandum aims to establish dual-degree and academic twinning programs, provide scholarships and tuition discounts for students, and explore opportunities for collaboration in joint scientific research.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the British delegation as a symbol of the strong academic ties between the two institutions and to mark this partnership. Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi and Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi also met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading in front of the university’s central library. The meeting aimed to review their academic progress, listen to their needs, and encourage them to continue excelling in service of their country.
This step comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ambitious strategy to strengthen its position within the international higher education landscape and to provide the best educational and research opportunities for its students and academic staff in line with the highest contemporary global standards in education quality, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
