The most important guidelines to follow in order to reduce or prevent the harmful effects of radiation (ultraviolet rays) on the eyes, according to international studies applied in this field, are as follows:
Adhere to the recommended time limits for each age group when using smart devices. It is preferable to use them intermittently during the day and for no more than one hour daily depending on the child’s age.
The distance between the device and the eyes should be 35–40 cm in order to reduce the harmful effects of these rays on the eyes.
Apply the 20–20–20 rule to give the eyes adequate rest during and after device use.
Avoid using smart devices at night or in complete darkness.
The device should be positioned at eye level to reduce eye deviation and minimize strain on the neck.
Use protective glasses (filters) to prevent harmful rays from reaching the eyes.
Enlarge unclear text while reading to avoid putting excessive strain on the eyes.
Perform therapeutic eye exercises for ten minutes after use to reduce eye dryness and help moisturize the eyes.
