As part of its ongoing cultural and artistic activities, Al-Mustaqbal University organized its second art exhibition under the slogan “From Babylon to Cannes,” coinciding with Iraq’s official participation in the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival 2026 within the Immersive Competition category, reflecting the growing global presence of Iraqi culture and art. The exhibition featured outstanding participation from students of the College of Fine Arts, who presented artworks embodying the depth of Iraqi civilization and the diversity of Mesopotamian cultural identity. The paintings and designs drew inspiration from Babylonian, Assyrian, and Sumerian civilizations while utilizing contemporary artistic techniques to deliver humanitarian messages centered on creativity, peace, and cultural openness. The university emphasized that this event serves as a cultural bridge connecting Iraq’s ancient heritage with some of the world’s most important artistic platforms, noting that art has become an effective means of cultural communication and of promoting Iraq’s civilized image internationally. The university administration also stated that organizing the exhibition aligns with its vision of supporting young talents and encouraging students to participate in international artistic and cultural events, contributing to the development of a generation capable of representing Iraq with distinction on the global stage. The exhibition attracted a wide academic and cultural audience, with attendees praising the artistic quality of the displayed works and the university’s role in supporting the artistic and cultural movement while strengthening the position of contemporary Iraqi art.
