Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Technologies, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abdul Kadhim Abdul, and the Assistant Dean, Prof. Dr. Tahani Jawad Mohammed Ali, the College of Agricultural Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a distinguished scientific awareness workshop on the occasion of the “International Day of Plant Health.” The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Majid Kadhim Abbas, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Handhal, and Lecturer خالد كاظم, with the participation of a number of academic staff members and students interested in agricultural and environmental affairs. This workshop was held in recognition of the importance of plant health as one of the fundamental pillars for achieving food security and sustainable development. The scientific lectures addressed the major challenges facing the agricultural sector, particularly plant diseases and pests and their direct impact on the environment, human health, and society. The workshop also highlighted the close relationship between plant health and environmental safety, explaining that preserving plants and protecting them from pollutants and diseases contribute to improving air, soil, and water quality, which positively reflects on public health and quality of life. Furthermore, it emphasized the role of plant health in supporting the agricultural economy and achieving environmental sustainability. The lecturers discussed the importance of adopting modern agricultural technologies and safe pest-control methods to reduce the random use of chemical pesticides and minimize their harmful effects on humans and living organisms. They stressed that community awareness of plant health is an essential step toward building a healthy environment and a sustainable agricultural future. This event comes as part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the College of Agricultural Technologies to promote environmental culture and strengthen concepts of social responsibility among students, in line with the vision of Al-Mustaqbal University in supporting scientific research and serving the community. “Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in Iraq.
