Sleep is one of the most important factors that help the body and mind function properly. When a person does not get enough sleep, it can directly affect both vision and concentration. The eyes need rest just like other parts of the body, and sleep deprivation may lead to temporary or long-term visual problems.
One of the most common effects of lack of sleep on the eyes is eye strain, redness, and dryness. This happens because the eyes do not receive enough natural lubrication during long periods of staying awake. A person may also experience blurry vision, light sensitivity, heavy eyelids, and difficulty keeping the eyes open for long periods.
In terms of concentration, lack of sleep affects brain performance and its ability to process information quickly and accurately. As a result, people who do not sleep well may have difficulty paying attention, remembering information, and making decisions. Their reaction time may also become slower during studying, working, or driving.
Studies show that good sleep improves both brain function and eye health. Therefore, it is recommended to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep daily and reduce phone and screen use before bedtime to maintain eye comfort and improve mental focus.
