The Educational and Psychological Counseling Committee in the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering organized a discussion session titled Community-Based Rehabilitation for People with Disabilities, conducted by Engineer Aya Talib Hassan on 27/4/2026, with the participation of third-year students.
The session addressed the concept of community-based rehabilitation and its role in empowering people with disabilities and integrating them effectively into society. It highlighted the importance of integrating medical, psychological, and social aspects to achieve a better quality of life. The discussion also explored the role of biomedical engineers in supporting this group through the development of prosthetics and assistive technologies that enhance independence and social inclusion.
This activity comes as part of the committee’s efforts to promote social and humanitarian awareness among students, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education), by reinforcing the principles of inclusivity and equal opportunities. The session witnessed positive engagement, reflecting students’ growing interest in applying their knowledge to serve society and achieve a sustainable impact.
