As part of promoting awareness of mental health in the digital age, an awareness session was held in the form of a discussion panel on the impact of social media on mental health, targeting first-year students, on April 19. The session was led by Assistant Lecturer Montadhar Saleh Mahdi and Engineer Aya Talib Hassan.
The session addressed key challenges associated with excessive use of social media platforms and their effects on concentration, mental well-being, and social relationships. It also highlighted healthy digital behaviors and ways to achieve a balance between digital and real life.
Additionally, practical guidance was provided to help students use technology mindfully, enhancing their psychological well-being and ability to adapt to the modern academic environment.
This activity aligns with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by promoting positive digital culture and strengthening mental health awareness among students.
