By: Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Obeis Abdulsada\ Reading represents the supreme path toward knowledge and the inexhaustible fountain of human culture. Since man began documenting his thoughts and experiences, reading has remained the primary tool for learning and education. It is the instrument that grants individuals the ability to traverse centuries and soar through the horizons of ancient and modern civilizations, allowing them to grasp the history of nations, dwell within the works of scholars, writers, and thinkers, and realize the magnitude of contributions each civilization has offered to serve humanity. In the modern era, reading is the true measure of a nation’s sophistication and its degree of civilization. Reading societies are the most aware of changes and the most capable of weighing matters with the balance of wisdom. Reading bestows the mind with intellectual fertility and matures the conscience, which sharpens the nation's standing, grants it renewed vitality, and enables it to achieve excellence and distinction in all fields of creativity. Adopting reading as a way of life is the surefire guarantee for building a generation that possesses the tools of the future. Through books, we open new horizons of understanding and build bridges of communication with global thought, which enhances the role of our educational institutions in providing society with enlightened minds that appreciate their heritage and look forward to the prospects of development.
