The Department of Chemical Engineering launched, as part of its scientific and applied activities, a research project titled “Hydrogen Gas Production Device” on April 16, 2026, with the participation of a group of students and under the supervision of the teaching staff. The project aims to explore the mechanisms of hydrogen gas production as one of the most important sources of clean and renewable energy. A model device was designed based on simplified scientific methods for hydrogen production, including the electrolysis of water process. The project also highlighted the importance of hydrogen as an environmentally friendly alternative fuel that can help reduce harmful emissions and protect the environment. The project included a practical demonstration of how the device operates, an explanation of the method for separating hydrogen and oxygen gases, as well as a review of the most important industrial applications of hydrogen in the fields of energy and industry. This activity comes within the department’s efforts to enhance the practical skills of students, link theoretical concepts with real-world applications, and support the transition toward the use of clean energy and sustainability. The project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, and Goal 9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting scientific projects and encouraging innovation in engineering and alternative energy fields.
