The department conducted, as part of its scientific and environmental activities, a specialized survey on the environmental and operational status of oil refineries on April 20, 2026. The survey was supervised by Assistant Lecturers Abrar Falah Naji and Rusul Ahmed Hashem, with the participation of a number of students and individuals interested in chemical engineering and petroleum industries.
The activity aimed to highlight the level of environmental performance in oil refineries, assess compliance with occupational safety standards, and identify the main operational challenges facing this vital sector. It also sought to enhance students’ environmental awareness and link theoretical knowledge with practical applications in the field of oil refining.
The survey included several key aspects, such as evaluating emissions and pollution, safety procedures, operational efficiency, and the extent to which modern environmentally friendly technologies are adopted in refineries. This initiative comes as part of the department’s efforts to support sustainability concepts and achieve sustainable development goals by preparing qualified personnel capable of addressing environmental and industrial challenges.
