The College of Fine Arts at Al-Mustaqbal University continues its preparations to organize a national art festival in cooperation with the Babylon Directorate of Education / School Activities Division and the Babylon Directorate of Youth and Sports, with the participation of the University of Babylon / College of Fine Arts, the University of Kufa / College of Education for Women, and the Open Educational College / Physical Activity Department, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University. The festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, under the slogan “When Art Paints the Courage of the Nation”, serving as a national artistic platform that expresses the heroism, courage, and sacrifices of the Iraqi Army, translating the epics of defending the homeland into vivid artistic works and emotionally powerful theatrical scenes. The festival places special emphasis on expressive and dramatic theatre by presenting national theatrical performances inspired by stories of heroism and resilience, embodying the values of sacrifice and dedication, and reinforcing the image of the Iraqi soldier as a symbol of courage and national sovereignty. The program also includes visual art works, paintings and murals, national musical and chanting performances, as well as expressive and movement arts, all contributing to highlighting national identity and strengthening the spirit of belonging and pride in the Iraqi Army and the homeland. The organizing committees affirmed that preparations are proceeding according to a national and educational vision that seeks to employ art—particularly school and university theatre—as an influential means of conveying national messages and deepening students’ awareness of the vital role of the armed forces in safeguarding Iraq’s security and stability. This festival stands as a message of loyalty and pride, affirming that art and theatre are the voice of the nation, and that the courage of the army is sometimes written through words, colors, and theatrical scenes.
