Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the third edition of the International Future Sustainability Week Festival 2025 was officially launched today, with wide academic and official participation from Iraq and abroad.<br /><br />The festival commenced with the inauguration of the First International Conference on Modern Technologies and Their Applications in Sustainable Education, alongside the opening of several scientific exhibitions organized by university students, researchers, and faculty members. These exhibitions showcased innovative initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<br /><br />The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of several distinguished figures, including the Minister’s representative, Prof. Dr. Ameen Al-Yasiri (President of the University of Babylon), the Governor of Babylon Mr. Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, the Head of the Babylon Provincial Council Mr. Asaad Al-Muslawi, and Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmed, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey. A number of university presidents, college deans, academic assistants, and researchers also attended.<br /><br />In his speech, the Governor of Babylon praised Al-Mustaqbal University for its leading role in community service and its commitment to educational excellence. Prof. Dr. Ameen Al-Yasiri conveyed the Minister’s greetings and commended the university for its academic and research achievements.<br /><br />On behalf of the university president, Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuheiri delivered a speech reaffirming the university's commitment to its vision: "Towards a Sustainable University", coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the founding of Al-Mustaqbal College and the first anniversary of its transition into a university. He highlighted the crucial role of artificial intelligence in digital transformation, particularly in education, and showcased the contributions of the newly established AI Center at the university, which strengthens its status among leading institutions. Notably, more than 65% of the university’s scientific research is aligned with the SDGs.<br /><br />The first day of the festival featured two panel discussions: the first addressed Global Experiences in Sustainable Education, led by a delegation from Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University and moderated by Prof. Dr. Tareq Jawad. The second session focused on The Role of Universities in Achieving SDG 4: Quality Education, with contributions from several experts including Prof. Dr. Faten Al-Qazzaz and Ms. Nahida Ahmed Abdul-Jabbar, and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuheiri, who also presented key success stories from the university.<br /><br />Al-Mustaqbal University the first university of Iraq .
