Al-Mustaqbal University Opens New Horizons for Graduates at Its Second Qualification and Employment Forum Under the theme "Empowering Graduates and Tackling Unemployment: Towards a Sustainable Career Future," Al-Mustaqbal University organized its second Qualification and Employment Forum. The event was held under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi; supervised by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi; and organized by the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division. It brought together a distinguished group of academics, representatives from government institutions and the private sector, as well as university students and alumni. The forum opened with an address by the University President—delivered on his behalf by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi—emphasizing the university's role in preparing graduates equipped with the knowledge and the professional, leadership, and personal skills needed to compete in the labor market. He also highlighted the importance of expanding partnerships with state institutions and the private sector to provide opportunities for training, employment, and professional empowerment. The forum featured a series of specialized sessions and topics. These included a presentation by the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Dulaimi, on developing administrative skills and entrepreneurship as pathways to combat unemployment and create job opportunities. Additionally, Engineer Huda Qasim, representing the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, presented a session on the partnership between the university and the Ministry aimed at aligning educational outcomes with the needs of the industrial labor market. Ms. Jinan Adel Makki, Managing Director of the Akkad Gateway Company for Rehabilitation and Employment, discussed graduate readiness for the labor market and the transition from academic preparation to professional empowerment. She focused on the skills required for employment, as well as the importance of continuous training and development. Meanwhile, Mr. Mustafa Abbas Sabr, a pioneer project developer in the Iraqi market, addressed the need to shift from a culture of stigma to one of empowerment; he emphasized boosting graduates' confidence in their abilities and encouraging innovation, freelancing, and opportunity creation. The forum featured an inspiring session in which several Al-Mustaqbal University graduates shared their success stories and professional experiences. They presented real-world examples demonstrating how graduates can transform knowledge and skills into successful career paths, serving as a source of inspiration for current students and fellow alumni. The event concluded with a presentation of key recommendations and outcomes by Prof. Dr. Iman Abdul-Aziz, Head of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division. She underscored the importance of sustaining rehabilitation and employment programs, expanding partnerships with state institutions and the private sector, increasing training and job opportunities, and fostering the skills that enable students and graduates to compete effectively in the labor market. The forum embodies Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to building an integrated ecosystem that links education with labor market needs. It reinforces a vision that transcends the traditional concept of preparing graduates merely to seek employment, aiming instead to empower them to become partners in development, creators of opportunities, and architects of sustainable professional futures.
