Nursing education is no longer based solely on memorizing information. Today, it focuses on preparing nurses who possess scientific knowledge, practical skills, clinical thinking, decision-making abilities, and effective communication with patients. Assessment and evaluation are essential components of improving the quality of nursing education. They help identify students’ learning levels, strengths, and areas that require further development, thereby contributing to the achievement of the desired learning outcomes. Modern assessment methods in nursing education include written examinations, practical and clinical assessments, direct observation, case studies, clinical simulation, and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). These methods help assess students’ ability to apply their knowledge and skills in clinical situations similar to real-life practice. Feedback is also an important part of the assessment process. It enables students to understand their performance, recognize areas for improvement, and continuously develop their clinical and professional skills. At the College of Nursing – Al-Mustaqbal University, continuous attention is given to developing modern assessment and evaluation methods to enhance the quality of education and prepare graduates with the scientific, practical, and professional competencies required to provide safe and high-quality nursing care. Modern assessment is not simply about measuring grades; it is an essential tool for developing students and preparing competent nurses who can think critically, make appropriate clinical decisions, and uphold professional ethics and patients’ rights.
