President of Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in the “Internationalisation Leadership Dialogue” in the United Kingdom

As part of its efforts to strengthen Al-Mustaqbal University’s presence on the international academic stage and expand its network of global partnerships, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the IAU-EAIE Internationalization Leadership Dialogue, which commenced on 8 September 2026 at the Sir Jim McDonald Innovation and Technology Centre at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The University President’s participation came at the invitation of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the European Association for International Education (EAIE). The international academic dialogue focused on shaping future strategies for higher education, strengthening international academic partnerships, and discussing how universities can respond effectively to rapidly evolving global challenges and digital transformation. The dialogue was opened by Dr. Hilligje van’t Land, Secretary General of the International Association of Universities, and Mr. Mervin Bakker, Executive Director of the European Association for International Education. The program also featured a keynote presentation addressing the VUCA Prime leadership model and its role in managing universities in rapidly changing environments by promoting agility and clarity, alongside discussions on emerging trends in international student recruitment. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi participated in roundtable sessions addressing the reimagining of university curricula, the role of artificial intelligence in international academic mobility and collaboration, and the exchange of perspectives and experiences with participating university leaders on the future of higher education internationalization. On the sidelines of the dialogue, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi met with Dr. Hilligje van’t Land, where they discussed prospects for future cooperation and ways to strengthen international academic engagement. During the meeting, he presented her with a commemorative shield reflecting Iraq’s heritage and civilization, symbolizing the depth of Iraqi cultural identity and Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to building bridges of cooperation and communication with international academic institutions. This participation forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international standing and presence, engage with leading global academic experiences, and build partnerships that contribute to advancing education and scientific research while keeping pace with the rapid transformations shaping the global higher education sector.
