Professor Dr. Fakhriya Jabr Muhaibis, a faculty member at the College of Nursing, Al-Mustaqbal University, participated as a member of the PhD dissertation defense committee for the doctoral student Sumaya Abdul-Hakim Hassan. The dissertation examined the effectiveness of a specialized educational program on antenatal care in improving the knowledge and attitudes of first-time pregnant women. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of the educational program on enhancing knowledge and developing positive attitudes among first-time pregnant women, given the importance of antenatal care as one of the fundamental pillars for improving maternal and neonatal health and reducing risks and complications associated with pregnancy and childbirth. The study adopted a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design and included a sample of 405 first-time pregnant women, who were divided into a study group and a control group. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to assess knowledge and attitudes and were analyzed using appropriate statistical tests. The findings demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in knowledge and attitude scores among participants in the study group following implementation of the educational program compared with the control group, with statistical significance of (p < 0.001) and a large effect size. In contrast, the control group showed no notable changes. The study concluded that the specialized antenatal care educational program was effective in enhancing knowledge and developing positive attitudes among first-time pregnant women. It recommended integrating structured educational programs into routine maternal healthcare services to promote the utilization of antenatal care and improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
