Faculty Member from the College of Nursing at Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in PhD Dissertation Defense at the University of Babylon

Professor Dr. Fakhriya Jabr Muhaibis, a faculty member at the College of Nursing, Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the defense of the PhD dissertation of Abbas Abdul-Hussein Hassan at the College of Nursing, University of Babylon, as a member of the scientific examination committee. The dissertation, entitled “The Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Sessions in Improving Psychological Well-Being among Cancer Patients,” aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy sessions in enhancing the psychological well-being of cancer patients. The study employed a quasi-experimental design involving a sample of 50 patients and used the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale, which measures six main dimensions: autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life, and self-acceptance. The study results demonstrated a clear and statistically significant improvement across all dimensions of psychological well-being, as well as in the overall score, with p < 0.05, confirming the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy sessions in improving patients’ psychological well-being. The study concluded that cognitive behavioral therapy is an effective intervention for enhancing psychological well-being among cancer patients. It recommended integrating psychological support and cognitive behavioral therapy programs into routine healthcare services for cancer patients, in addition to strengthening early psychological screening and training healthcare professionals to provide appropriate psychological support. The participation of Professor Dr. Fakhriya Jabr Muhaibis in this academic defense reflects the distinguished academic presence of the faculty members of the College of Nursing at Al-Mustaqbal University and highlights their active contribution to supporting scientific research and participating in academic activities and scholarly examinations at Iraqi universities.
