The Al-Mustaqbal University Council held its twelfth session for the 2025–2026 academic year, chaired by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and attended by all Council members. The session addressed a number of academic, scientific, and administrative matters, reviewed the university’s major achievements throughout the academic year, and discussed early preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year.
At the beginning of the session, the University President congratulated the university’s academic and administrative staff and students, commending their efforts and contributions to a series of qualitative achievements that have strengthened Al-Mustaqbal University’s academic standing and presence at both the national and international levels. He particularly highlighted achievements in scientific research, national and international rankings, as well as the university’s institutional accreditation and programme accreditation obtained by a number of its colleges and academic departments.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi also highlighted several key milestones achieved during the academic year, most notably the university’s receipt of an **Erasmus+ programme grant**, which opens new opportunities for expanding international academic cooperation and partnerships. He also referred to the university’s hosting and organization of numerous local and international scientific events, as well as the launch of initiatives supporting community engagement and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The University President emphasized that these achievements are the result of institutional teamwork and effective integration among the university’s various academic and administrative units. He expressed his appreciation for the dedicated efforts of faculty members, staff, and students and stressed the importance of continuing to work collectively to sustain the university’s path of excellence and development.
The session was also attended by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Khafaji, Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate – Babil Branch, who congratulated the University President and Council on receiving the **Erasmus+ grant** and praised the university’s significant scientific and academic achievements. The meeting also addressed prospects for cooperation between the syndicate and the university, including the nomination of syndicate representatives within the university and its colleges, as well as opportunities to announce employment positions for holders of higher academic degrees through the syndicate.
As part of preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi directed the relevant units to complete all academic, technical, and administrative requirements well in advance. This is intended to ensure a well-prepared and effective start to the new academic year and provide an appropriate environment for continued achievement.
The University President also emphasized the importance of maintaining the academic and scientific quality of the university’s graduates and aligning educational programmes with labour-market needs and future requirements. This includes continuously updating curricula, adopting modern teaching methods, activating the role of industrial advisory councils, benefiting from the experiences of leading international universities, and leveraging international academic partnerships to further develop teaching and research.
The session also featured a review of several institutional performance reports. Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, presented a report on student-related matters, while Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Academic Supervisor, presented a report on scientific and academic performance. Two additional presentations addressed the activities of the Continuing Education Center and the performance of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department.
At the conclusion of the session, the Council discussed the items on its agenda and adopted the necessary decisions and recommendations, reinforcing the university’s institutional development approach and supporting Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision of excellence, leadership, and continued achievement throughout the upcoming academic year.
