President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, welcomed Members of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Habib Al-Hilawi and Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, to discuss a number of strategic issues related to the development of higher education, the advancement of academic services, and the promotion of academic standards across Iraqi higher education institutions. The meeting addressed ways to further develop the higher education sector and strengthen the local and international academic reputation of private higher education institutions. Discussions also highlighted Al-Mustaqbal University’s experience in academic hosting, joint academic programmes, twinning initiatives, and scientific partnerships with prestigious international universities, which contribute to enhancing the educational environment and improving academic outcomes. During the meeting, Dr. Habib Al-Hilawi affirmed that Babil Governorate takes pride in Al-Mustaqbal University as a distinguished scientific and academic institution. He highlighted the university’s significant social and economic role in the governorate, particularly its contribution to providing employment opportunities for more than 2,000 citizens from the local community, representing different age groups and social backgrounds, including graduates, administrative personnel, and service staff. He noted that this role contributes effectively to reducing unemployment and supporting sustainable development. For his part, Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, stressed the importance of strengthening the quality and academic standards of both public and private higher education institutions. He noted that Al-Mustaqbal University’s achievement of success rates exceeding 90% in the evaluative examinations across most academic subjects represents a clear indicator of the university’s academic standards and the quality of its educational process. He also praised the university’s international twinning and academic hosting programmes, highlighting their role in strengthening academic cooperation and expanding engagement with leading global educational institutions. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi reaffirmed Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to continuously developing its academic and infrastructure standards and strengthening cooperation and coordination with national institutions, as well as legislative and executive authorities. He emphasized the university’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its position as a leading academic institution that serves the community and contributes to the development of Iraq’s educational and economic future.
