On the sidelines of the UK-Iraq Academic Bridge Initiative, hosted by Al-Mustaqbal University on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, met with the Executive Director of the British Council in Iraq, Dr. Richard Sanderson, to discuss the launch and implementation of a package of strategic initiatives aimed at expanding international academic cooperation. The meeting was attended by the University's Academic Supervisor, Professor Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, and featured extensive discussions on implementing the British Council's development initiative and aligning its executive programs with Al-Mustaqbal University's strategic vision for the internationalization of higher education, enhancing academic quality, and strengthening its global academic presence. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration with leading universities and academic institutions in the United Kingdom through the activation of academic and cultural exchange programs, establishing direct partnerships with British universities, and supporting the development of the University's English Language Centers in accordance with internationally recognized standards supervised by the British Council. These efforts aim to enhance the linguistic and research competencies of both faculty members and students. The meeting reflected the strong and growing relationship between the two institutions. The collaboration was symbolically affirmed through an official handshake, while Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi presented a commemorative shield to Dr. Richard Sanderson in recognition of the British Council's continuous support for higher education and its valuable contribution to strengthening international academic cooperation, in the presence of Professor Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi. This initiative represents another significant milestone in Al-Mustaqbal University's ongoing efforts to expand its global partnerships with distinguished academic institutions.
