Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a remarkable international milestone by ranking first among all Iraqi public and private universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026. The university was placed within the global 201–300 category among 1,603 universities from around the world evaluated in this year’s ranking.
The results reaffirm Al-Mustaqbal University’s leadership in Iraq, where it ranked first among 43 participating public and private universities, reflecting its success in integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into institutional practices, academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement activities.
The university also achieved first place nationally in four key Sustainable Development Goals: No Poverty (SDG 1), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16). In addition, it secured second place nationally in Quality Education (SDG 4).
This achievement extends the university’s continuous success, maintaining its position as Iraq’s top-ranked university in the THE Impact Rankings for the second consecutive year and the leading private university in Iraq for the fourth consecutive year.
Commenting on the achievement, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, stated that the ranking reflects the collective efforts of the university community and its commitment to academic excellence, scientific research, and sustainable development. He emphasized the university’s determination to further strengthen its international standing and expand its contribution to sustainable development at both national and global levels.
