Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, represented by its President, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Letter of Intent) with the University of Reading in the United Kingdom on 10 June 2026, aiming to strengthen academic, scientific, and research cooperation and expand international partnerships between the two institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom, Professor Qusay Al-Ahmadi, along with an academic and administrative delegation from the University of Reading. Discussions focused on establishing joint academic programmes, including double-degree and academic progression pathways, exploring scholarship opportunities, and enhancing cooperation in scientific research, knowledge exchange, and joint research projects.
The two sides also exchanged commemorative shields as a symbol of their strong academic relationship and shared commitment to building a sustainable scientific partnership that contributes to the advancement of higher education and scientific research, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education, innovation, and international partnerships.
On the sidelines of the visit, Professor Qusay Al-Ahmadi and Professor Hassan Shaker Majdy met with a number of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading to learn about their academic experiences and discuss their aspirations and needs.
This agreement comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategy to expand its international partnership network and provide distinguished academic and research opportunities for its students and academic staff.
