Al-Mustaqbal University Charts Its Strategic Path Toward Innovation and the Productive University Model

Chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University held its second strategic meeting dedicated to formulating its vision for the coming phase, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship and accelerating the institutional transformation toward the “productive university” model. The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with directors of research centers and departments within the University Presidency, as well as a number of faculty members and specialized staff. In his opening remarks, the University President emphasized that modern universities are no longer limited to disseminating knowledge; they are increasingly expected to generate knowledge and translate it into practical applications that contribute to economic growth and sustainable development. He noted that Al-Mustaqbal University possesses advanced human and scientific capabilities that qualify it to play a leading role in this regard. He explained that achieving this vision requires integrated efforts from university leadership, faculty, staff, and students through the formation of specialized scientific, administrative, and service teams working in parallel within clearly defined strategic pathways to accomplish the University’s goals in innovation, entrepreneurship, and institutional sustainability. The President also stressed the importance of supporting applied scientific research that provides practical solutions to challenges facing various sectors. He highlighted the need to strengthen partnerships with industrial, service, and productive institutions by activating industrial advisory councils within the colleges, thereby ensuring alignment between university outputs, labor market needs, and national development priorities. During the meeting, the President presented his forward-looking vision for institutional transformation and for creating a university environment that nurtures creativity and innovation in line with contemporary global trends in higher education. For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision presented a working paper outlining the key pillars of the future plan. These included embedding a culture of innovation across the University’s colleges, upgrading infrastructure and research laboratories, providing logistical and financial support for entrepreneurial projects, reviewing and updating curricula to incorporate modern entrepreneurship concepts, and promoting financial sustainability as part of the transition toward a productive university. The presentation also included key performance indicators for the upcoming period. The meeting featured extensive discussions and interventions by directors of centers and departments, who proposed a number of developmental ideas and initiatives that could serve as the foundation for future entrepreneurial projects, further strengthening the University’s academic and developmental standing. At the conclusion of the meeting, the University President offered his observations and directives regarding the proposals presented. He reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination among colleges, research centers, and relevant departments, and emphasized the University Presidency’s full support for high-impact initiatives that advance the University’s strategic objectives.
