Under the kind patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University held a scientific and practical workshop entitled “From Embedded Computing to Smart Systems: Raspberry Pi Applications in Technological Innovation.” The workshop was delivered by Eng. Hasnain Taha Shaalan, a member of the Center’s technical staff, with the participation of students and individuals interested in emerging technologies. The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the Raspberry Pi platform as a versatile solution in the field of single-board computing, highlighting its main components, technical features, and capabilities in developing electronic and software-based projects. It also explored how the platform can be utilized to build intelligent systems and develop interactive applications. Eng. Hasnain Taha Shaalan presented the technical and practical aspects of the platform, explaining how to work with its operating environment, connect electronic devices and components, and utilize its programming and control capabilities to implement technological projects. Particular attention was given to its applications in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Embedded Systems. The workshop also emphasized the importance of using single-board computers to design innovative prototypes and integrate software with hardware components. These capabilities provide opportunities to develop practical technological solutions across various fields while strengthening students’ engineering thinking, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills. This workshop is part of the ongoing scientific and practical activities organized by Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications to enhance students’ technical and programming skills, expand their knowledge of intelligent systems and modern computing technologies, and encourage them to move beyond theoretical learning toward developing innovative practical projects and applications. The workshop aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting practical education and encouraging the development of technological solutions and innovations.
