Under the kind patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University held a scientific and practical workshop on Saturday, October 31, 2026, entitled “From Programming to Innovation: Arduino and Microcontrollers in Building Smart Systems.” The workshop was delivered by Eng. Mohammed Saad Abees, a member of the Center’s technical staff, with the participation of students and individuals interested in technology and electronics. The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of microcontrollers and the Arduino platform as an important educational and practical tool in electronics and programming. It covered the platform’s main components, operating principles, and programming techniques used to control various electronic devices and systems. The workshop also included practical demonstrations of connecting sensors and electronic components to Arduino boards, working with input and output signals, writing and executing programming commands, and utilizing these technologies to develop prototypes for smart projects and applications based on sensing and automated control. Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the importance of microcontrollers in developing Internet of Things (IoT) projects, intelligent systems, and automation applications. It demonstrated how these technologies can transform theoretical ideas into practical and scalable solutions, providing students with opportunities to strengthen their programming and engineering skills and develop their abilities to design innovative technological solutions. This workshop is part of the ongoing scientific and practical activities organized by Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications to enhance students’ technical capabilities, strengthen hands-on learning, and encourage the development of projects that integrate programming, electronics, and intelligent technologies. The workshop aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through promoting practical and technical skills, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by encouraging innovation and the development of technological solutions.
