Under the kind patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and as part of its commitment to supporting applied student projects and encouraging technological innovation, Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University continues to follow up on a scientific project developed by students from the Department of Cybersecurity Sciences. The project focuses on developing a technological system for detecting landmines. The project has received close follow-up from the Center’s staff, including reviewing the stages of development, discussing its technical and practical aspects, and providing scientific guidance and feedback to help refine the project concept and improve its effectiveness. These efforts aim to strengthen students’ research skills, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to apply modern technologies to real-world challenges. This follow-up reflects the Center’s commitment to providing a supportive scientific environment for student projects and transforming innovative ideas into practical applications with meaningful societal impact. It also promotes collaboration between students and specialists while enhancing students’ capabilities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and intelligent systems. The project has particular humanitarian and societal significance, as mine-detection technologies can contribute to public safety and help reduce risks to human life, especially in areas affected by the remnants of war. Its development must prioritize safety requirements, with testing conducted only in controlled, safe environments under the supervision of qualified specialists. This initiative supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – by supporting technological solutions that help protect lives and reduce safety risks. SDG 4: Quality Education – by promoting practical learning and developing students’ scientific and technical skills. SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure – by encouraging innovation and the development of technological solutions to societal challenges. SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions – by supporting initiatives that contribute to community safety and security. Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications reaffirms its commitment to supporting and monitoring promising student projects and providing the necessary scientific and technical guidance. These efforts contribute to preparing students with strong research, innovation, and practical skills, while strengthening Al-Mustaqbal University’s role in harnessing technology to serve society and advance sustainable development.
