To strengthen practical learning and hands-on laboratory experiences, Al-Mustaqbal Renewable Energy Research Center at Al-Mustaqbal University conducted a specialized field experiment on solar radiation measurement using the Air Mass and shade technique. The practical session targeted third-year students from the Department of Power Mechanics Engineering Techniques (Renewable Energy Branch), College of Engineering Technology, under the academic supervision of faculty researcher Lecturer Israa Mohammad Hassan. The experiment focused on introducing students to the core components of solar irradiance on Earth's surface—direct, diffuse, and global radiation—and analyzing hourly solar intensity variations based on zenith angles and atmospheric air mass concepts. During the session, students utilized a reference height column to track shadow length variations over sequential time intervals, calculated theoretical solar irradiance, and benchmarked their calculations against real-time readings measured by the center's specialized solar radiation meters, followed by error margin analysis and environmental factors discussion. This field application forms an integral part of the Renewable Energy Laboratory curriculum, empowering future engineers with key competencies required for analyzing, sizing, and designing practical solar energy applications. #AlMustaqbalUniversity #EnergyResearchCenter #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #EngineeringTechnology #HigherEducatio
