Al-Mustaqbal University Marks an Active Presence at the National Conference on Unemployment and Poverty… Pioneering Initiatives and Academic Visions Toward a Knowledge Economy

Reaffirming its leading role in supporting national and developmental causes, Al-Mustaqbal University actively participated in the First Scientific Conference on Addressing Unemployment and Poverty in Iraq 2026, held in partnership between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Planning under the slogan: “Integrating Knowledge and Policies Toward Fair and Sustainable Solutions that Create Impact.” The conference was attended by the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Helo Al-Askari, and the Minister of Planning, Dr. Khalid Battal Al-Najm, alongside deputy ministers, advisors, university presidents, deans, professors, researchers, as well as representatives of international organizations, civil society institutions, the private sector, and the labor market, in a national gathering that reflected the importance of unifying efforts to address major developmental challenges. The delegation of Al-Mustaqbal University included Professor Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, representing the University President, Professor Hassan Shakir Majdi, accompanied by Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of Cultural Relations, Assistant Professor Dr. Mundhir Sameen, and Engineer Khalid Kadhim Al-Salihi, Head of the Sustainability Division. As part of the conference’s scientific sessions, Professor Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, representing the university presidency, participated in a panel discussion on the role of universities in addressing unemployment and poverty. He presented an important working paper that offered a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and highlighted the responsibilities of educational institutions and universities through advancing education, developing skills, and aligning outputs with development needs. College of Dentistry at Al-Mustaqbal University Signs Scientific Twinning Agreement with University of Al-Qadisiyah to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Athraa Yahya Al-Hijazi, a delegation from the College of Dentistry at Al-Mustaqbal University has signed a scientific twinning and joint cooperation agreement with the College of Dentistry at the University of Al-Qadisiyah. This strategic step aims to enhance academic partnership and advance the educational and research trajectories of both institutions. Al-Mustaqbal University and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Consolidate an International Academic Partnership through Joint Master’s Thesis Defenses

In a significant academic milestone reflecting the growing presence of Iraqi universities in the global research landscape, Al-Mustaqbal University in Iraq, in collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), organized a series of international Master’s thesis defenses under the joint Master of Science in Electronics Systems Design Engineering (ESDE) program. This program is hosted at Al-Mustaqbal University in partnership with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at USM. The defenses commenced on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. (Iraq time) and 2:30 p.m. (Malaysia time), with the participation of a distinguished academic committee comprising experts from both institutions. These joint defenses represent an advanced model of cross-border academic collaboration, combining the international research expertise of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with the steadily expanding academic presence of Al-Mustaqbal University. This partnership contributes to strengthening institutional integration between Iraqi and Malaysian universities in the fields of modern engineering and intelligent technologies. The session included the presentation and defense of the Master’s thesis by student: Mohammed Saad Ubaid Al-Yasiri Entitled: “Simulation and Hardware Implementation of an AI-Driven Smart Parking System with Secure IoT Integration” The research addressed a critical topic within the global digital transformation agenda, focusing on the design, simulation, and implementation of an intelligent parking management system based on artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT), with particular emphasis on ensuring secure integration between devices and data. The significance of the study lies in its direct engagement with a real-world challenge faced by modern cities—namely, the efficient and secure management of parking and urban services. By leveraging intelligent systems, the research aims to optimize resource utilization, reduce congestion, and enhance the reliability of digital infrastructure. The topic is closely aligned with global trends in smart city development, where data-driven approaches, secure connectivity, and intelligent algorithms are central to public service management. The thesis was entitled: “Optimization of Power Flow in Distributed Generation Systems Using Reinforcement Learning-Based Intelligent Control” The study presented an advanced scientific approach to one of the most pressing challenges in the modern energy sector—namely, the management of power flow in distributed generation systems—through the application of reinforcement learning techniques, a key branch of artificial intelligence capable of supporting intelligent control decisions within smart electrical grids. The significance of the research lies in its direct relevance to the future of sustainable energy. Distributed generation systems have become a fundamental component of the global transition toward more resilient and efficient power networks, particularly with the increasing integration of renewable energy sources. The meeting was attended by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, along with a number of department directors from the university presidency. From the side of Al-Azhar University, several officials and specialized academics also participated. During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was delivered on Al-Mustaqbal University, highlighting its major achievements in scientific research, the enhancement of the educational process, and the development of the academic environment. Al-Mustaqbal University Concludes Its International Training Program in Alanya, Türkiye: International Commendation for Student Excellence and Strengthening of Strategic Academic Partnerships

In a celebratory atmosphere marked by a strong spirit of international academic collaboration, the activities of the international training program for students of Al-Mustaqbal University were successfully concluded at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU), in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports. The closing ceremony, which marked the culmination of the program through the distribution of certificates to students and faculty members, was attended by distinguished academic and administrative figures. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, was present alongside Mehmet Kılınç, Administrative Assistant at ALKU, as well as representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports. Al-Mustaqbal University Signs a Memorandum of Cooperation with the University of Technology

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Engineering Technical College at Al-Mustaqbal University signed a joint scientific Memorandum of Cooperation with the College of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology. The agreement was formalized on Wednesday, April 29, 2025, at the premises of the University of Technology. The delegation representing Al-Mustaqbal University included: Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the Engineering Technical College Assistant Professor Dr. Ameen Mohammed Kitab, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs Professor Dr. Bayan Sabbar Kammaz, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department Professor Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, Director of the Energy Research Center Lecturer Dr. Mujtaba Abdul Kadhim, Secretary of the College Council The memorandum aims to strengthen academic and research collaboration, support joint scientific projects, enhance the supervision of postgraduate students, and organize various scientific activities. During the meeting, the available laboratory equipment and measurement instruments at the college were reviewed, with the aim of utilizing them to support and advance research proposals for master’s and doctoral students.
