Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the activities of the "Al-Mustaqbal Forum for Civil Society Organizations and the Private Sector" were launched on the morning of Sunday, April 20, 2025. The event took place as part of the fourth day of the Third International Future Sustainability Week Festival. Held under the slogan: "Civil Society and the Private Sector… Innovative Partnerships Lighting the Future", the forum witnessed distinguished participation from representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers / NGO Directorate, the Ministry of Planning, academic figures, as well as representatives from the private sector and civil society organizations. 🟩 Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in Iraq
On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the third day of the 3rd Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Festival witnessed a series of outstanding sports performances presented by the students and faculty of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in the presence of distinguished guests and academic figures. The events featured a range of dynamic activities that showcased the athletic talents of the students, including: Fencing Matches 🏅: Demonstrating high-level skill and precision. Taekwondo Shows 🥋: Exhibiting power, agility, and coordination. Body Language Performance by Deaf and Mute Students 🤟: Artistic displays promoting inclusion and creativity in sports. Equestrian Demonstrations 🐎: Skillful performances by the university’s equestrian team. Asst. Prof. Dr. Sanaa Abdul Ameer, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, emphasized that these activities support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3): Good Health and Well-being, highlighting the vital role of physical activity in enhancing students’ academic focus and overall well-being, under the motto “A sound mind in a sound body.” The events were also attended by the staff of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for AI Applications, who expressed their admiration for the high-quality performances and the spirit of inclusion demonstrated throughout. They underscored the importance of integrating sports with scientific and social initiatives to build a comprehensive, healthy university environment. This aligns with SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), particularly through the involvement of students with hearing disabilities. Through such sporting initiatives, Al-Mustaqbal University aims to: Promote awareness about the importance of sports in achieving mental and physical health. As part of the Third International Week for Sustainability, Al-Mustaqbal University organized a comprehensive health initiative through the establishment of specialized medical tents, with active participation from the Colleges of General Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Health & Medical Technologies. The initiative provided a wide range of free medical examinations and services to students, visitors, and external guests. The services offered included: Comprehensive lab tests (blood sugar, blood pressure, oxygen saturation). Vision screening and diagnosis of eyesight problems. Weight and height measurements with Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation to assess obesity levels. Teeth cleaning and oral hygiene guidance under the supervision of the College of Dentistry staff. Instant medical and nursing consultations. Health awareness programs focused on prevention and early detection. This initiative aligns with the university’s efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3): ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. It aims to raise health awareness, promote early detection practices, and encourage a healthy lifestyle within the university environment. The medical tents witnessed a high turnout and positive engagement, reflecting the university community’s strong interest in such high-impact health services. Participants expressed great satisfaction with the quality and organization of the event and emphasized the importance of continuing such initiatives. During the event, the staff of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University paid a visit to the medical tents. They were briefed on the medical services being provided and praised the efforts of the participating colleges. They also highlighted the importance of integrating academic, healthcare, and technological efforts to serve the community and support the university’s vision of a healthy and sustainable campus environment. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, emphasized that the launch of the incubator is a strategic step toward fostering innovation and scientific research in AI, and reflects the university’s commitment to sustainable development, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which focuses on economic growth and innovation-driven employment opportunities. Prof. Dr. Nidhal Khdhair Al-Abbadi, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for AI Applications, presented a detailed overview of the incubator’s mission and objectives, which include: Supporting researchers and innovators in developing AI-based solutions to address both local and global challenges. Enhancing collaboration between universities, research centers, and the private sector to advance technological development. Aligning innovation with sustainable applications in key areas such as healthcare, energy, and smart agriculture. Speakers at the event highlighted the incubator as a practical model for realizing Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17) through strengthening multi-sectoral partnerships, and stressed the importance of involving civil society in these efforts, in line with the directives of the Iraqi Digital Path Council. As part of the activities of the Third International Festival of Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, led an official and academic delegation on a field visit to the university’s Natural Reserve, one of the university’s pioneering initiatives in the field of environmental preservation and biodiversity protection. This visit underscores the university's commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 15 – Life on Land, through raising environmental awareness and supporting sustainable initiatives. The delegation toured the reserve, which includes vast green spaces, a diverse range of native plants, and a collection of animals living in a safe and natural environment. Visitors were also introduced to the modern technologies and smart environmental systems employed in monitoring and protecting wildlife, including AI-powered solutions.
