In a distinguished academic setting and upon the gracious invitation of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the university hosted a high-profile academic and official gathering. The event coincided with the first-of-its-kind visit to Iraq by Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, accompanied by his deputy, Prof. Dr. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash. The gathering was honored by the presence of Mr. Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, Governor of Babylon, Mr. Asaad Al-Muslawi, Head of the Babylon Provincial Council, Prof. Dr. Ameen Al-Yasiri, President of the University of Babylon, and Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Awadi, President of Al-Qasim Green University, along with several vice presidents, deans, and government officials. In his remarks, the Governor of Babylon expressed his deep appreciation to the President of Al-Mustaqbal University for organizing such a prominent academic event. He emphasized that Al-Mustaqbal University has become a distinguished scientific model both nationally and internationally, citing its strategic academic partnership with Mansoura University as a source of pride for the province and Iraq. The presidents of the University of Babylon and Al-Qasim Green University commended Al-Mustaqbal University’s role in fostering academic cooperation and expressed their commitment to enhancing partnerships with Mansoura University, especially in joint research and higher education development. The Ninth Open Session of the Al-Mustaqbal University Council for the academic year 2024–2025 was convened under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of the University, in the presence of all council members and with the participation of the Scientific and Academic Supervisor. The session began with a speech from the University President, in which he highly praised the efforts of the university’s academic, administrative, and support staff that led to the remarkable success of the 3rd International Future Sustainability Week, held from April 16 to 24, 2025. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Administrative Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili, representing the Minister. This year’s festival featured three scientific conferences and three specialized forums, in addition to high-level academic and official participation from Iraq and abroad, scientific exhibitions, student-led projects, case studies, and cultural and artistic performances, all aligned with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4: Quality Education SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi also commended the smooth organization of the final exams, emphasizing the importance of ongoing on-ground supervision by deans and academic leaders to ensure a safe and supportive environment that enables students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for future careers. The President also highlighted the university’s active participation in the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Development Technologies, co-hosted by Northern Technical University and Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey, and attended by the Minister's representative and the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Ankara. The event resulted in the signing of significant memoranda of understanding between parallel faculties. He urged the deans to activate these MoUs and to work on strengthening academic and scientific collaboration with Turkish institutions, reflecting the university’s vision of internationalization and global academic integration. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and within the framework of international engagement and cultural-academic collaboration, Al-Mustaqbal University – Iraq welcomed a delegation from the World Monuments Fund (WMF), a leading global independent organization dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage. Headquartered in New York City, WMF operates through an extensive network of offices around the world. The delegation was received by: Prof. Dr. Hussein Waheed, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Muthaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Dr. Sameer Ibrahim Badrawi, Director of International Relations. During the meeting, both parties discussed potential avenues for cooperation, especially with the university’s Department of Archaeology, in areas such as student and faculty training programs, involving engineering departments in conservation projects, conducting joint research, and organizing international workshops and conferences in partnership with local and global institutions. The visiting delegation also toured the university campus and was introduced to key initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—notably: Goal 11.4: Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage, Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education, Goal 17: Strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development. The delegation expressed admiration for the advanced academic environment and the university’s efforts in promoting a sustainable model of higher education in Iraq. In line with its commitment to strengthening scientific and academic cooperation with prestigious institutions, a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University – Iraq paid an official visit to the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute at Sadat City University, Arab Republic of Egypt, on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abbas Nweir, Dean of the Institute, and discussions were held on potential avenues of collaboration in scientific research, training, development, and academic exchange, especially in the fields of biotechnology and genetic engineering. The visiting delegation included: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Adnan Al-Khafaji – Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, College of Health and Medical Technologies, Prof. Dr. Aysam Mahmoud Ali Fayed – Head of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division, Asst. The sensor serves as a gateway to creative applications in smart homes, educational tools, assistive technology, and automated systems.
