Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic milestone that further strengthens its leading position at both the national and international levels, after ranking first among all Iraqi public and private universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026. The university secured a distinguished global position within the 201–300 category out of 1,603 universities worldwide included in this year’s ranking. The university also ranked first among the 43 Iraqi public and private universities participating in the ranking, reaffirming its national leadership and institutional excellence in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and transforming them into practical and impactful initiatives on the ground. At the level of sustainable development goals, Al-Mustaqbal University achieved first place in Iraq in several key SDGs, including: • SDG 1: No Poverty • SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy • SDG 13: Climate Action • SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions The university also secured second place in Iraq in SDG 4: Quality Education, reflecting the quality of its academic programs and educational initiatives aimed at building qualified human capital capable of leading sustainable development. Professor Dr. Mahdi Abadi Manaa has officially assumed his duties as the Director of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University, aligning with the university's vision to advance scientific research and keep pace with the digital revolution. Immediately upon taking office, Dr. Abadi chaired the first meeting with the center’s administrative and technical staff. The meeting focused on discussing future workflows and delegating key tasks and responsibilities among team members to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and productivity. The meeting resulted in several pivotal outcomes and decisions, most notably: Current Work Statistics: Instructing the staff to prepare accurate and comprehensive statistics on all ongoing projects and operations, to be submitted in a detailed report for current situation assessment. Semi-Annual Plan: Initiating the immediate drafting of a semi-annual strategic plan to be launched early next year, aimed at precisely defining targets and distributing technical and research roles.
