Dr. Engineer Ali Shakir Majdi, an Academic at Al-Mustaqbal University College, has participated in
“The Third European Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology”
It should be noted that the Conference was convened in Bucharest, at the Romanian Parliament Palace, during the period 4th – 9th September 2022. As a matter of fact, this conference is considered as one of the largest specialized scientific events that is held every four years under the auspices of the European Union with the attendance of representatives to the World Bank, specific European institutions and the Romanian presidency. Besides, it is remarkable to note that more than 1500 researchers coming from 61 countries do participate in the conference.
We are obliged to note that Dr. Ali Shakir Majdi has participated in the Conference with two academic papers that have been accomplished with the collaboration of a research team from the Building and Construction Engineering Dept. at Al-Mustaqbal University College, which is constituted of Dr. Muhammad Latif, Dr. Abdullah Musa and Mr. Aqil Abdul-Hassan, in addition to Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Rubaie from the University of Babylon. The first research has been dealing with the issue of changing the use of agricultural buildings in Babylon, with reference to its environmental and economic impact, as well as its conformity with the Iraqi earthquake code 2017. The second research, on the other hand, has been investigating a geological study of some sites in the city of Karbala and the calculation of some important seismic factors that have been signified there.
