Ti–6Al–4V is one of the alloys widely used in the manufacturing of bone implants due to its high corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties. Its microstructure consists of two phases: the alpha (α) phase, which has a hexagonal crystal structure, and the beta (β) phase, which has a body-centred cubic crystal structure. The heat treatment temperature and cooling rate influence the proportions, distribution, and morphology of these phases. Solution treatment and ageing can improve tensile strength and hardness by controlling phase transformations. These microstructural changes also affect fatigue resistance, which is an essential property for implants exposed to cyclic loading. Therefore, controlling heat treatment processes is crucial for achieving an optimal balance between mechanical strength and ductility in medical alloys.
