In line with its strategic vision to expand international partnerships and strengthen its academic and research presence globally, Al-Mustaqbal University held a consultative meeting with the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) to explore prospects for academic and scientific cooperation and identify opportunities to launch joint programmes and initiatives that promote knowledge exchange and research capacity development, particularly in the fields of agriculture and sustainable development. The meeting aligns with the vision of Al-Mustaqbal University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, to strengthen cooperation with prestigious international universities and expand academic engagement in ways that keep pace with scientific advancements and support the development of higher education in Iraq. The Al-Mustaqbal University delegation was headed by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, with the participation of Dr. Tahani Jawad from the College of Agricultural Technologies and Ms. Ilaf Salah Mahdi. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Haider Jawad Kadhim, representing the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. UC Davis was represented by Dr. Christopher Marconi, Director of Business Development and International Programs. The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination and communication between the two universities and exploring practical avenues for joint cooperation. The meeting also focused on leveraging the scientific resources and academic expertise available at both institutions to pave the way for impactful initiatives, particularly in agriculture and research related to sustainable development. Both sides emphasized the importance of establishing an academic partnership based on shared interests and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. Such cooperation would support institutional capacity development, create new opportunities for scientific and research collaboration, and help both institutions keep pace with emerging global trends in education and innovation. This meeting represents a continuation of Al-Mustaqbal University's efforts to strengthen its international presence, activate partnerships with global universities and academic institutions, and transform cooperation opportunities into practical programmes and projects that advance scientific research and innovation, improve the quality of higher education, and serve Iraqi society in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
