The Head of the Department of Communications Engineering Technology at the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Haider Jabbar Abd, in collaboration with a group of researchers, published a joint scientific paper in the international journal Journal of Thermoplastic Composite Materials. The paper, entitled “Probing the Electrical and Linear/Nonlinear Optical Properties of Polyvinyl Alcohol–Chitosan/Graphene Oxide Nanocomposites for Next-Generation Optoelectronic Applications,” was published online on March 24, 2026, in Volume 39, Issue 10. The study investigated the electrical and linear and nonlinear optical properties of nanocomposites consisting of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), chitosan, and graphene oxide, with the aim of exploring their potential for developing modern electronic and optoelectronic devices. The research involved preparing nanocomposite polymer films with different graphene oxide concentrations ranging from 0 to 6 wt% and analyzing their structural, electrical, and optical properties. The findings demonstrated improvements in certain electrical and optical properties, a reduction in the optical band gap, and enhanced pressure sensitivity. These results indicate the potential of these materials for applications in flexible sensors, optoelectronic devices, and advanced nanotechnology. This research achievement supports scientific research, the development of advanced functional materials, and technological innovation. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by contributing to innovation in nanomaterials and advanced electronic technologies, as well as Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting scientific research and advancing academic knowledge. Al-Mustaqbal University is the leading private university in Iraq.
