As part of its academic commitment to strengthening advanced engineering concepts and developing students’ scientific and analytical competencies, the Department of Computer Engineering Technology at the College of Engineering Technology, Al-Mustaqbal University, hosted a specialized scientific lecture on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, entitled “Mathematical Modeling of Mechanical Systems: Advantages and Disadvantages.” The lecture was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Mujtaba Al-Khafaji to third-year students as part of the Fundamentals of Control Engineering course. The lecture highlighted the scientific and mathematical foundations of mechanical system modeling, emphasizing its significance as an essential analytical tool in control engineering. Particular attention was given to its fundamental role in describing the dynamic behavior of physical systems and representing mechanical phenomena through mathematical models and equations, enabling engineers to investigate system characteristics, analyze dynamic responses, and predict performance under various operating conditions. The lecture also provided an in-depth overview of the scientific and engineering advantages of mathematical modeling in understanding mechanical systems and evaluating their performance. It examined the role of mathematical models in supporting engineering design, system simulation, and the development of effective control strategies. Furthermore, the discussion addressed key challenges and limitations associated with mathematical modeling, particularly simplifying assumptions, model accuracy, and the extent to which theoretical predictions correspond to the actual behavior of engineering systems. A central focus of the lecture was strengthening the integration of mathematical principles with practical engineering applications in control engineering. The presentation emphasized the importance of mathematical models in analyzing dynamic systems and understanding the relationships governing their motion and response. This approach contributes to developing students’ mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, and systematic problem-solving skills while establishing a solid theoretical foundation for understanding control system design and performance evaluation. The lecture attracted strong attendance and active engagement from third-year students, reflecting their growing interest in specialized engineering disciplines and their commitment to expanding their scientific knowledge of mathematical modeling and mechanical system analysis. Such academic engagement enhances students’ understanding of fundamental control engineering concepts and prepares them to address engineering challenges involving dynamic systems and modern control technologies. This scientific lecture forms part of the ongoing academic initiatives undertaken by the Department of Computer Engineering Technology, reflecting Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to advancing engineering education, strengthening the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, and developing students’ scientific and technical competencies. These initiatives aim to prepare highly qualified engineering graduates capable of keeping pace with technological advancements and responding effectively to the evolving demands of the engineering sector and labor market. These efforts are also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education, which emphasizes the importance of inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education, the development of specialized scientific competencies, and the continuous enhancement of learning outcomes to meet the demands of scientific and technological progress.
