As part of its efforts to promote health awareness and encourage positive behaviors within the university environment, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit of the Civil Engineering Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness campaign entitled “Reducing Smoking on Campus.” The campaign was supervised and implemented by Assistant Lecturer Saif Salam Saud, Assistant Lecturer Wurood Raouf Abdulhussein, and Assistant Lecturer Zahra Hussein Mohammed, with the participation of a number of students from the department.
The campaign aimed to raise health awareness among students, faculty members, and university staff regarding the health risks associated with smoking and passive smoking, as well as their harmful effects on individual health and the well-being of others. It also encouraged members of the university community to adopt healthy lifestyles and follow responsible practices that contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and smoke-free campus environment.
The awareness activity included promoting educational messages emphasizing the importance of avoiding smoking and reducing its prevalence across the university campus. It also highlighted the role of students in spreading health awareness among their peers and reinforcing the concept of shared responsibility for protecting public health and improving the quality of university life.
This campaign is part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to support guidance and awareness initiatives aimed at protecting students’ health and strengthening community awareness, thereby contributing to the development of a healthy and sustainable educational environment.
The activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
