Assistant Lecturer Murtadha Hamid Hamzah, a faculty member in the Department of English Language and Literature at the College of Arts, Al-Mustaqbal University, has published a specialized academic article entitled:"Language, Gender, and Power: A Brief Overview". The article reviews how research on language and gender conceptualizes the relationship between gendered speech and power dynamics, tracing the field's evolution from deficit, dominance, and difference frameworks to modern social constructionist and performative perspectives. Furthermore, the study illustrates the practical application of these theories within political discourse, where floor access serves as a direct manifestation of institutional power. The research highlights the double-bind dilemmas faced by women in politics and media contexts, arguing that gendered linguistic patterns are best understood through contextual, institutional norms, and ideological frameworks rather than fixed biological traits.
