Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Haider Ali Al-Dulaimi, the College of Administrative Sciences at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized scientific workshop on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, entitled “The Devaluation of the Iraqi Dinar: Between Economic Gains and Social Costs.” The event brought together a distinguished group of academics and experts in economics, finance, and monetary policy.
The workshop attracted broad academic and community participation, including professors and researchers from several Iraqi universities, as well as community representatives from Babil Governorate. The event aimed to promote informed scientific dialogue on exchange rate policies and their implications for the national economy and citizens’ living conditions.
Discussions addressed the economic and social dimensions of the devaluation of the national currency, including its effects on purchasing power, living standards, and fiscal and monetary policies. Participants also examined the influence of international monetary developments and fluctuations in the US dollar on domestic financial stability.
The discussions emphasized the importance of comprehensive scientific studies and integrated economic analyses in informing exchange rate decisions, with a view to balancing economic stability requirements with the protection of social groups most vulnerable to economic changes.
This workshop reflects the ongoing efforts of Al-Mustaqbal University and its College of Administrative Sciences to address pressing national economic issues, disseminate knowledge, and provide evidence-based insights that contribute to community service and sustainable development.
