Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education at Al-Mustaqbal University, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Rawdan Salman, the college held an awareness lecture on the International Day of Peace on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the College Dean’s Office. The lecture was attended by the Dean, Professor Dr. Thanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah, and Assistant Lecturer Shadan Shabbar. It aimed to raise awareness of the importance of peace and promote a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. The lecture explored the significance of the International Day of Peace, celebrated by the United Nations on September 21 each year. It highlighted the 2026 theme, “Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” which emphasizes that peace is not merely the absence of wars and conflicts, but an ongoing process requiring joint efforts and meaningful investment by individuals, institutions, and nations. The lecture also discussed the key foundations of peacebuilding, including fostering inclusive societies, supporting sustainable development, protecting human rights and dignity, reducing divisions, and promoting a culture of dialogue, negotiation, and diplomacy. It further highlighted the role of individuals and community initiatives in spreading the values of tolerance and cooperation and strengthening social cohesion. Furthermore, the lecture addressed the challenges facing peace efforts amid ongoing international conflicts and worsening humanitarian crises. It emphasized the importance of uniting international and community efforts to build a safer and more stable future, stressing that the responsibility for promoting peace begins within the family and educational institutions and extends to society as a whole.
