As part of its commitment to strengthening practical learning and linking theoretical concepts with laboratory applications, the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a scientific workshop on “Methods of Measuring Fluid Viscosity” in the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The workshop was attended by second-year Civil Engineering students and supervised by Assistant Lecturer Farah Hameed Abdulkhudhur. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the concept of fluid viscosity and its significance in engineering applications, explain practical methods for measuring viscosity, and develop their skills in handling laboratory equipment, understanding experimental results, and analyzing data. These activities contribute to improving students’ understanding of the physical properties of fluids and their behavior under different conditions. The workshop included a scientific explanation and practical demonstration of the procedures for measuring fluid viscosity, highlighting the relationship between viscosity and fluid motion, as well as the importance of this property in various engineering applications, particularly in hydraulics and the design of fluid-handling systems. It also provided students with an opportunity to enhance their observation and measurement skills and connect experimental results with the theoretical principles studied in Fluid Mechanics. This workshop is part of the Civil Engineering Department’s ongoing efforts at Al-Mustaqbal University to develop students’ scientific and practical competencies and provide an interactive learning environment that prepares future engineers with the academic knowledge and practical experience required to meet the demands of the job market.
