The Department of Architecture at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific activity entitled “Architecture Through the Ages: Heritage of the Past and Vision of the Future,” presented by Lecturer M.M. Duha Yasser Hamza. The activity aimed to introduce students to the major historical stages of architectural development, highlight the distinctive characteristics of each era, and explore the transformations in architectural styles, building materials, and construction technologies. The activity examined the role of architecture in reflecting the identities and cultures of civilizations, beginning with ancient architecture, passing through Islamic architecture, renowned for its aesthetic qualities and decorative details, and extending to modern and contemporary architecture, which incorporates technology, innovation, and sustainability principles into the design of buildings and cities. The activity also sought to raise students’ awareness of the importance of preserving architectural heritage and drawing inspiration from the experiences of the past to create contemporary designs that combine authenticity and creativity while meeting future needs. This contributes to developing students’ design thinking and preparing them to address urban and environmental challenges. This activity is part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to enhance architectural knowledge, develop students’ scientific and creative skills, and reinforce awareness of the importance of architecture as a fundamental element in shaping urban identity and achieving sustainable development.
