The College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University showcased student projects, scientific displays and public health awareness initiatives related to the early detection of breast cancer at a scientific exhibition held alongside the National Forum on Early Detection of Breast Cancer. Organised under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr Hassan Shakir Majdi, on 19 October 2026, the event aimed to raise health awareness and highlight the importance of early diagnosis and the contribution of medical and laboratory technologies to healthcare.
The University President inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Professor Dr Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Professor Dr Zahraa Haleem Al-Qayyim, Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies; and a number of academic staff, specialist physicians, representatives of relevant health authorities and students. Visitors explored educational models and visual materials designed to explain medical concepts and promote health literacy within the community.
The exhibition featured an educational model illustrating breast cancer-related changes, alongside displays explaining laboratory specimen handling and the role of histopathological examination in supporting diagnosis. Educational equipment and materials, including a microscope, tissue slides and illustrative histological images, were also presented. The displays highlighted the contribution of laboratory investigations to clinical assessment and medical decision-making, while emphasising that breast cancer diagnosis requires specialist medical evaluation and cannot be established through a single laboratory test alone.
The exhibition also included educational posters and community-focused initiatives promoting regular screening and encouraging women to seek professional medical advice when signs warrant further assessment. These initiatives included the “Tree of Hope,” featuring supportive and awareness-raising messages, and “Write Your Message,” which invited participants to share words of hope and encouragement with women affected by breast cancer. Together, these activities highlighted the importance of compassion, emotional support and public awareness in health education.
The exhibition took place alongside the National Forum on Early Detection of Breast Cancer, which featured awareness lectures delivered by specialist physicians Dr Walaa Nouri and Dr Zainab Al-Jubawi, with the participation of representatives from relevant health authorities. Free screening services were also provided in support of early detection efforts. Collectively, the activities offered an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions, healthcare professionals and the wider community through accessible scientific and educational initiatives.
The exhibition reflects the College of Health and Medical Technologies’ commitment at Al-Mustaqbal University to practical learning, showcasing student achievements and applying specialised knowledge to community service. It also supports broader efforts to promote preventive healthcare, encourage early detection and improve public awareness of women’s health.
