On the occasion of the World Day for Archaeology and Archaeological Sites, the Department of Archaeology at the College of Arts and Humanities at Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Najaf Inspectorate of Antiquities and Heritage, organized a scientific field trip to Khan Al-Hammad in the Khan Al-Nus area and Khan Al-Shilan (the Najaf Heritage Museum) in Najaf Governorate. The trip was attended by academic staff and students of the department.
The field trip aimed to strengthen the practical component of archaeological and architectural heritage studies, providing students with an opportunity to explore firsthand the architectural characteristics and historical functions of khans. These heritage structures represent important examples of buildings associated with travel, commercial exchange, and social interaction. The visit also highlighted the role of museums in preserving, documenting, and displaying cultural heritage.
