Students of the Department of Telecommunications Engineering Technology at the Technical Engineering College of Al-Mustaqbal University explored transmission systems, networking technologies, and data transmission techniques on Sunday, 18 October 2026, during a field trip organized by the department to the Babylon Telecommunications and Informatics Directorate / Hillah Complex. The visit was held under the patronage of the Dean of the Technical Engineering College, Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Head of the Department, Dr. Haider Jabbar Al-Janabi. It aimed to strengthen students’ practical skills and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in the telecommunications and information technology sector. The visit included a scientific and training tour of the Transmission Department, where students learned about wireless data transmission through microwave networks, fiber-optic technologies, and high-capacity optical cable networks. They also explored the mechanisms used to manage data traffic and digital services in the Data Division. The tour further covered the Networking Department, where students learned about the interconnection and management of main switching systems and telephone exchanges within the Interconnection Exchange Unit, enhancing their practical understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure. This scientific field trip forms part of the department’s efforts to develop students’ academic and professional skills and strengthen their technical capabilities in line with labor market requirements and modern technological developments. It also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by providing practical learning opportunities that support capacity building, engineering skills development, and innovation. Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among private universities in Iraq, continues to support applied education and strengthen cooperation with specialized institutions, contributing to the preparation of qualified engineering professionals capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in telecommunications, networking, and information technology.
