As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to developing students’ skills and preparing them for professional life, Prof. Dr. Naser Abdul-Hassan Naser Al-Taie, Head of the Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, held a scientific workshop entitled “How to Prepare Yourself for the Job Market.” The workshop targeted fourth-year students, aiming to prepare them for graduation and introduce them to the essential requirements for transitioning from university life to the labor market, thereby strengthening their readiness to begin their professional careers with confidence and competence. The workshop was organized in recognition of the importance of preparing fourth-year students for the stage that follows the completion of their university studies. This final stage represents a significant transition in students’ lives, requiring academic and professional preparation, an understanding of available employment opportunities, and the development of skills needed to meet the expectations of different institutions. The workshop aimed to encourage students to plan for their future careers while still at university and to develop their capabilities in line with their academic specializations and labor-market requirements. During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Naser Abdul-Hassan Naser Al-Taie highlighted the importance of professional preparation as an essential complement to academic achievement. He emphasized that obtaining a university degree is a fundamental step in a graduate’s career path; however, entering the workforce also requires practical and personal competencies that enable graduates to perform their duties effectively. The workshop also addressed the importance of effective communication, teamwork, time management, accountability, critical thinking, and problem-solving, in addition to the ability to adapt to different workplace environments. Another key focus was the importance of making effective use of the scientific knowledge and practical experience students have acquired throughout their university studies and applying them in professional fields related to their specializations. The workshop emphasized continuous learning and self-development, participation in training courses and scientific activities, and keeping up with recent developments in specialized fields. These efforts can strengthen graduates’ competencies and improve their ability to compete in the job market. For students in the Department of Biochemistry, professional readiness involves strengthening specialized knowledge and connecting it with the practical skills required in laboratories, healthcare institutions, research centers, and other related workplaces. Accuracy in performing tasks, adherence to laboratory quality and safety standards, the ability to analyze results, and the responsible handling of scientific data are all essential components of professional competence in fields related to Biochemistry. The workshop also highlighted the importance of understanding job application requirements as part of graduation preparation. Students need to learn how to prepare a professional curriculum vitae, present their academic qualifications and skills effectively, prepare for job interviews, and recognize the importance of workplace ethics and professional responsibility. Such knowledge helps students develop a clearer understanding of the steps involved in identifying employment opportunities and preparing for them after completing their university education. This workshop reflects the Department of Biochemistry’s commitment to supporting students during the final stage of their university studies and helping them prepare for graduation and the transition to professional life. It also highlights the importance of integrating academic education with career preparation to produce graduates who can apply their knowledge and skills effectively, contribute to society, and support the development of the institutions in which they work. Al-Mustaqbal University continues to support scientific and educational initiatives that contribute to students’ personal and professional development and prepare them for the next stages of their academic and career journeys. These efforts reflect the university’s commitment to graduating competent and knowledgeable individuals who are capable of adapting to the evolving demands of the labor market.
