As part of its efforts to enhance the practical skills of Civil Engineering students and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and field applications, the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a field training workshop for second-year students entitled “Building Leveling.” The workshop was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Saeed Hakim and Assistant Lecturer Kawthar Haider Abdul Latif.
The workshop included field visits across the university campus, during which students received practical training on the use of surveying instruments and the establishment of a reference datum. The activities also covered measuring and determining elevation differences between various buildings and facilities, as well as reading engineering drawings and verifying their consistency with actual site conditions.
The workshop aimed to develop students’ abilities to apply fundamental surveying principles and strengthen their understanding of the role of surveying in building planning, engineering project implementation, and the coordination of road and utility networks. These practical activities contribute to preparing students for the professional requirements of future engineering practice.
The Civil Engineering Department reaffirmed its commitment to organizing training workshops and field activities that provide students with practical learning opportunities, develop their technical and professional skills, and enhance their readiness for the labor market in accordance with modern engineering practices.
