The Department of Communications Engineering Technologies at the Technical Engineering College, University of Al-Mustaqbal, organized a scientific field trip for its students to the Babylon Communications and Informatics Directorate / Hillah Complex on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The activity was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the Technical Engineering College, and under the supervision and follow-up of Dr. Haider Jabbar Al-Janabi, Head of the Department. The trip aimed to enhance students’ practical skills and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications in telecommunications and networking.
The program included an exploratory and training tour of the Transmission Department, where students learned about wireless data transmission systems using microwave networks, fiber-optic technologies, and high-capacity optical cable networks. They also gained insights into data traffic management and digital services within the Data Division. The program further covered the Networks Department, where students were introduced to the mechanisms for connecting and managing main switches and telephone exchanges within the Interconnection Exchange Unit.
This activity reflects the department’s commitment to developing students’ scientific knowledge and professional skills, enhancing their practical experience, and preparing them to meet labor market demands and keep pace with the latest technological developments. It also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), by providing practical learning opportunities that contribute to capacity building and innovation.
The University of Al-Mustaqbal, ranked first among private universities in Iraq, continues to promote applied education and strengthen partnerships with specialized institutions, contributing to the preparation of qualified engineering professionals equipped with the scientific knowledge and practical skills needed to keep pace with rapid developments in the telecommunications and information technology sectors.
