Time management is an essential skill for university students, enabling them to achieve academic success and maintain a balance between their studies and personal lives. Students often face various challenges that hinder their ability to organize their time and complete academic assignments efficiently. With the increasing demands of lectures, examinations, and university activities, effective time management becomes crucial for students to reach their academic and personal goals. Among the most prominent challenges students face is procrastination—putting off assignments until the last minute—which leads to a backlog of tasks and heightened levels of stress and pressure. Furthermore, the excessive use of smartphones and social media contributes to wasted time and diminished focus while studying. Some students also struggle with setting priorities and allocating their time appropriately among lectures, review sessions, and other activities. For students who are also employed, family responsibilities and work commitments can further complicate the organization of their daily schedules. A lack of prior planning and the absence of clear goals can result in lower academic achievement and inadequate preparation for examinations. Consequently, students need to develop skills in planning, organizing, and prioritizing to make the most effective use of their time. These challenges can be overcome by creating a daily or weekly schedule that outlines times for lectures, study, and rest, as well as by breaking down large tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. Additionally, minimizing digital distractions and dedicating regular periods for review can help improve focus and increase overall productivity. Universities and faculty members play a significant role in guiding students toward acquiring time-management skills through academic advising and awareness programs.
